Your different recreations of ant piece could be different "reflections", of ant piece and reminds me of this quote from a movie called "Inland Empire" by David Lynch. That goes:

A little boy went out to play'-
When he opened his door, he saw the world-
As he passed through the doorway he caused a reflection-
Evil was born and followed the boy-

Of course when he says "reflection", he means his shadow, that appeared after he stepped through the doorway. "Evil" or his "Shadow" was born and followed the boy.
It's a pretty good movie and I recommend that you see it.
